The Detective Branch (DB) of police have submitted charge sheet before a Dhaka court against Haji Salim's son Erfan Selim and four others in a case filed over the much-discussed assault on a Navy official in capital's Kalabagan area.

H M Azimul Hoque, deputy commissioner of DB's Ramna zone, confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.

On 26 October, Navy Lieutenant Wasif Ahmed Khan filed the case against Erfan and his associates for assaulting him in the previous night at Kalabagan crossing as the officer's motorbike had collided with Erfan's car.

According to witnesses, the car first hit the motorcycle of Navy officer lieutenant Wasif Ahmed. He was returning home with his wife after purchasing books. At that time, a few men got down from the car, assaulted the Navy officer and knocked out his one tooth. They also attacked thw wife of the officer.

Later, the assaulters escaped the scene leaving the car behind as people started to gather around.

On the next day, Rapid Actin Battalion conducted a drive at the residence of Haji Salim in Old Dhaka and arrested his son Erfan Sali, also a ward councilor, from the house.
