Members of the army have arrested seven youths with locally-made weapons after a drive at the Dhaleshwari River area in Munshiganj's Sirajdikhan upazila.

The drive was conducted at the river side under the Tulsikhali Bridge at the upazila's Chitrakot area in the wee hours of Thursday (3 April), during which they recovered 12-14 machetes along with Chinese axes, hockey sticks and knives.

The arrestees were identified as Md Hashem Sheikh, Arafat Bepari, Sohag Molla, Fahim Molla, Mohammad Sheikh, Ahad Ali and Siam Ali.

Confirming the matter, Assistant Superintendent of Police of the district's Sirajdikhan circle ANM Imran Khan said, "The arrestees have been handed over to Sirajdikhan Police Station this morning. 

"Police will lodge a case against them on accusations of threatening people with the arms and taking preparations for robbery."
