Another suspect arrested over RAB attack in Jungle Salimpur
“The operation was conducted around 12:30pm in Jungle Salimpur under Ward No-1 of Salimpur Union, where Kala Bachchu was detained from a local market in the Chhinmul area,” he added.
Police have arrested another suspect in connection with the deadly attack on a Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) team in the Jungle Salimpur area of Sitakunda, Chattogram.
The arrestee, identified as Kala Bachchu, is the 19th accused named in the case filed over the incident, police said yesterday.
Mohammad Russel, additional superintendent of police (DB and Industrial) of Chattogram District Police, said a team led by Sitakunda Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Mohinul Islam, along with investigation officer Sub-Inspector Md Idris Ali, carried out the arrest based on intelligence information.
"The operation was conducted around 12:30pm in Jungle Salimpur under Ward No-1 of Salimpur Union, where Kala Bachchu was detained from a local market in the Chhinmul area," he added.
Police have already filed a case over the attack, which left one RAB member dead and three others critically injured. The assault took place last Monday, while the case was filed two days later, on Wednesday night.
Earlier, three other suspects—Yunus Ali, Jahid Hossain, and Mohammad Arif—were arrested in early-morning drives on Thursday, a day after the case was filed.
Legal proceedings against Kala Bachchu are underway, Mohammad Russel said, adding that drives are continuing to arrest the remaining suspects involved in the incident.
