Another arrested in Chattogram electrician Rifat murder case
According to RAB, Farhan is a suspect identified during the ongoing investigation into the case
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested another suspect in connection with the murder of electrician Md Rifat in the port city's Pahartali area.
The arrestee is Shahparan alias Farhan, 22, hailing from the Dampara area under Nikli Police Station in Mymensingh district. According to RAB, Farhan is a suspect identified during the ongoing investigation into the case.
In a press release issued yesterday (19 July), RAB-7 stated that a team conducted a drive in front of Doha International School on Port Connecting Road under Halishahar Police Station around 11:10pm on Saturday (18 July) and arrested Farhan.

He has since been turned over to Pahartali Police Station for further legal proceedings.
Earlier, the elite force arrested four other individuals in the murder case: key accused Md Shamim, 35, second accused Sazzad Alam Shuvo, 32, as well as Maruf, 27, and Sumon, 30.
Upon receiving information, RAB initially arrested Shamim and Shuvo in the Jalil Textile Market area in Sitakunda.
With information received from them, Maruf was later detained in the Bayezid Bostami area, and Sumon was picked up in Halishahar.
Premeditated, ambushed
RAB sources previously told The Business Standard that on 23 June, at around 7:45am, Rifat was lured away from his residence due to a dispute over establishing local dominance and previous enmity.
He was taken to a three-way intersection adjacent to the Abdul Sufi Chowdhury Garage in South Kattali under Pahartali Police Station, where a group of assailants ambushed him.
During the assault, the attackers beat Rifat and stabbed him above his left knee with a sharp weapon.
Seriously injured due to excessive bleeding, locals rescued Rifat and rushed him to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment.
Following the killing, the victim's brother filed a murder case at Pahartali Police Station, naming three people and accusing two to three other unidentified individuals.
RAB-7 Deputy Commander Major Jalis Mahmud Khan previously said that during preliminary questioning, the suspects admitted Rifat was killed in a premeditated attack stemming from previous enmity.
