A robbery occurred at a Hindu household in a village in Anwara upazila, Chattogram, in the early hours of today (5 April), leaving eight individuals from three families injured.
The incident occurred around 2:30am at the home of Dr Ranjit Dutta in the village, Officer-in-Charge (OC) Monir Hossain confirmed the matter.
Upon receiving the news, the OC and Anwara Circle Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Md Sohanur Rahman Sohag visited the scene.
A gang of 10 to 12 armed robbers reportedly entered the house by climbing onto the roof using a ladder.
The attackers were armed with machetes and firearms and had stationed lookouts outside each room to prevent residents from escaping or alerting neighbours.
OC Monir Hossain said, "Based on statements from the victims, this appears to be a well-planned attack. The robbers took away some property documents along with Tk2 lakh cash and a few gold ornaments."
One of the members of the family, who sustained severe head injury in the attack, recognised one of the robbers, he said.
"We have sent a team to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, where he has been undergoing treatment, to collect information. Legal action will be taken once a formal complaint is filed," he added.
