7 petrol bombs, 4 crude bombs recovered from park in Mohammadpur
Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have recovered seven petrol bombs, four crude bombs, and various bomb-making materials from a bush inside a park in the capital's Mohammadpur area.
The explosives were found abandoned during a special operation conducted around 10:30pm yesterday (1 December) in bushes inside Lalmatia Trikon Park, located opposite Mohammadpur Shaheed Park and playground. RAB-2 Senior Assistant Director (Media) Md Shamsul Islam confirmed the recovery.
The raid was carried out jointly by RAB-2 and the RAB Headquarters' intelligence wing.
According to RAB, the items seized include 700 grams of gunpowder, 500 grams of splinters and sharp metal shards, four rolls of tape, and 700 millilitres of petrol.
Shamsul said the seized gunpowder, splinters, metal shards, and tape could be used to make an additional 20-25 crude bombs.
He claimed that miscreants had been preparing to use these materials to carry out acts of sabotage in the Geneva Camp area and surrounding neighbourhoods.
Shamsul further said the recovered petrol bombs, crude bombs, and other materials were later neutralised by RAB's Bomb Disposal Unit.
