3 leaders of banned BCL, Swechchhasebak League arrested in Gazipur over attempted sabotage
Police have arrested three leaders of the banned organisations Bangladesh Chhatra League and Swechchhasebak League on Wednesday (12 November) night for allegedly attempting acts of sabotage in Joydebpur area of Gazipur City Corporation.
During the operation, police seized 300 milligrams of petrol and a six-foot white plastic pipe used for making petrol bombs.
Joydebpur Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Touhid Ahmed confirmed the arrests.
He added that around 9:15pm on Wednesday, while conducting a security patrol on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway, police noticed suspicious behaviour by the accused in front of a fish farm owned by one Azim in Banierchala, Sakin area under Joydebpur Police Station.
The team subsequently apprehended them and recovered petrol bomb-making materials.
The arrested individuals are Noman Ahmed, president of Bhawalgar Union Chhatra League, Banierchala area; Akash Mahmud, office secretary of the same unit; and Rasel Ahmed, joint convener of Bhawalgar Union Swechchhasebak League.
OC Touhid Ahmed further stated that legal proceedings are underway against the accused.
