1 killed as public shooting rocks Ctg's Raozan again
Police say 27 people have been killed and more than 100 shootings and clashes have been reported in Raozan since August 2024.
A 35-year-old man was shot dead at Keranihat Bazar in Chattogram's Raozan upazila last night (3 September).
The victim, Mohammad Karim, was shot several times around 9:30pm. He was the son of Mohammad Shafi of Harpara village in Ward 7 of Urkirchar union and was reportedly associated with the local Juba Dal.
According to local traders, 10 to 12 people arrived at the market on several motorcycles and opened fire at Karim. They then fled the scene on motorcycles.

Karim died at the spot. His body remained beside a road at the market until around 10pm, after which police recovered it and conducted an inquest.
Raozan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Saiful Islam told The Business Standard around 11:30pm that police found bullet injuries in the middle of Karim's back and on the thigh of one leg.
"An empty bullet casing found beside the body was seized as evidence," he said.
The body was sent for autopsy, the OC said, adding that police would conduct an operation in the area to arrest those involved.
The OC said around 10 cases had been filed against Karim over various offences, including theft, robbery and rape, at police stations in Chattogram and Rangamati.
The OC also said it was not immediately clear who carried out the killing or why Karim was targeted.
Earlier on 13 June, Rangunia upazila Jubo Dal joint convener Masudul Haque Chowdhury Masud, 48, was shot dead at Pahartali Bazar in Raozan.
According to law enforcement data, 27 people have been killed in Raozan since 5 August, 2024. Of those, 20 killings were linked to political conflicts.
During the same period, the upazila saw more than 100 incidents of gunfire and clashes, leaving more than 350 people injured, including those hit by bullets.
