Writ seeks freezing of Flight Expert’s accounts, travel ban on directors

A writ petition has been filed in the High Court seeking directives to freeze all financial accounts of Flight Expert Limited and its directors, who allegedly fled the country with hundreds of crores of taka.
Supreme Court lawyer Pavel Mia filed the public interest writ petition today (4 August), referencing the report titled "Flight Expert fled with hundreds of crores of taka!" published on 2 August, along with other related media coverage.
The lawyer told reporters that the petition is likely to be heard by the High Court bench of Justice Md Habibul Gani and Justice Sheikh Tahsin Ali.
The petition seeks a court directive to freeze all financial accounts, including bank, mobile banking, and payment gateway accounts, linked to Flight Expert Limited and its directors.
It also requests a travel ban on all individuals associated with the company.
The petition names several respondents, including the secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, chairman of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, governor of Bangladesh Bank, additional IGP and DIG (Immigration) of the Special Branch, deputy commissioner of Dhaka district, Dhaka Metropolitan Police commissioner, BSEC chairman, and the president of ATAB.
Flight Expert CEO Salman allegedly flees amid website shutdown, financial concerns
According to media reports, Flight Expert — the country's largest online flight ticket booking platform — abruptly ceased operations, closing its offices and taking down its website. The sudden shutdown left thousands of customers and travel agencies in limbo, many of whom had paid in advance for flight tickets and travel services.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested three top officials of Flight Expert after travel agent Bikash Sarker filed a fraud case with the Motijheel police station on Saturday night.
Flight Expert had offered a range of services, including domestic and international flight bookings, hotel reservations, tour packages, and visa processing.
The company reportedly collected investments amounting to hundreds of crores from agencies before closing down on Saturday evening.
