Supreme Judicial Council summons Justice Khurshid Alam over irregularities
Final hearing set for 2 September

The Supreme Judicial Council, headed by Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed, has summoned High Court Justice Muhammad Khurshid Alam Sarkar, who is currently on leave, to explain allegations of irregularities.
The council is set to hold a final hearing on his case on 2 September.
According to a notice published on the Supreme Court's website today (26 August), the council has already completed the final hearing on Justice Md Akhtaruzzaman, also on leave. A decision in his case may be announced at any time.
The council has been investigating allegations against 12 judges who were sent on leave on 16 October last year. The judges were barred from their duties on the High Court bench due to allegations of corruption and favouritism toward the Sheikh Hasina government.
The 12 judges are: Justice Naima Haider, Justice Sheikh Hasan Arif, Justice Ashish Ranjan Das, Justice Mohammad Khurshid Alam Sarker, Justice SM Moniruzzaman, Justice Ataur Rahman Khan, Justice Shahed Nur Uddin, Justice Md Akhtaruzzaman, Justice Md Aminul Islam, Justice SM Masud Hossain Dolon, Justice Khizir Hayat, and Justice Khondaker Diliruzzaman.
