SC upholds HC order on Nawshaba in ICT case
The Appellate Division gave "no-order" as a result, the order of the High Court continues
The Appellate Division today upheld a High Court order that stayed the trial proceedings against actress Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed in a case filed under the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act.
The case was filed for allegedly spreading rumours on social media during a student movement for safe roads in 2018.
"The Appellate Division gave "no-order" as a result, the order of the High Court continues," Barrister Jotirmoy Barua said after the hearing.

Senior advocate AF Hasan Arif and Barrister Jyotirmoy Barua stood for Nawshaba in the court while Deputy Attorney General Biswajit Debnath represented the state.
On November 20, The High Court stayed the trial proceedings against the actress.
On January 19, this year court granted permanent bail to actress Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed.
On August 4, 2018, Nawshaba was detained from Dhaka's Uttara for allegedly spreading rumours on social media regarding the student movement.
Police filed a case under the ICT Act against Nawshaba with capital's Uttara West Police Station on August 5.
