Prime accused Lamin sent to jail in Uttara schoolgirl abduction case
Police on 1 May arrested Lamin Islam from Pubail in Gazipur and rescued the girl from his custody.
A court here today (5 May) sent to jail Lamin Islam, the prime accused in a case filed over the abduction of a schoolgirl from her father in the city's Uttara area.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Dilruba Afroz Tithi passed the order as police produced Lamin before the court after end of his one-day remand in the case and pleaded to keep him behind bars till the end of probe.
Police on 1 May arrested Lamin Islam from Pubail in Gazipur and rescued the girl from his custody.
The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Arifur Rahman on 4 May placed him on one-day remand.
According to the case documents, the 10th grader was returning home with her father after attending exams on 22 April. When they reached the Road-5 intersection in Uttara Sector-6 under Uttara East Police Station, Lamin and his associates allegedly intercepted them and abducted the girl in broad daylight.
The victim's father later filed the case in this connection.
