The International Crimes Tribunal has issued arrest warrants for two police officers and five other individuals on charges of committing crimes against humanity in Mohakhali, Rampura, and Uttara during the student-people July 2024 mass uprising.

Besides, the ICT has granted a one-day remand for police constable Mohammad Sujan Hossain, an accused in a case filed over killing seven people during the uprising in Dhaka's Chankharpul area on 5 August.

Prior to which, Prosecutors Gazi Monawar Hossain Tamim and BM Sultan Mahmood filed four separate petitions at the ICT to this end.

Later in a briefing, Prosecutor Gazi stated that since the tribunal's reconstitution, arrest warrants have been issued against 115 individuals in 18 cases.

Of them, 35 have been arrested and are currently in jail, he added.
