HC orders arrest of father for not objecting to bail of son’s accused murderer
The court rejected bail of accused

On Tuesday, the High Court directed police to arrest the father, for submitting a no-objection letter for the bail of the individual accused of murdering his infant son.
The HC also ordered police to file charges against the father under the relevant section of the law. At the same time, the court rejected the bail application of the accused.
The court rejected Nahidul Islam alias Ibrahim's bail plea. Four-year-old Sohail was murdered in Sylhet's Beanibazar after witnessing his aunt's immoral act with the accused.
An HC bench comprising of Justices Jahangir Hossain Selim and Md Badruzzaman passed the order on Tuesday.
Deputy Attorney General Dr Bashir Ullah spoke on behalf of the state in court, while lawyer Al Amin stood for the accused.
On the morning of 7 June last year, the child went to the home of his aunt, Surma Begum, and witnessed an intimate moment between her and Nahidul. The baby was later strangled to death, wrapped in a blanket and hidden in a plastic drum in the bathroom.
That evening, Beanibazar police went to the spot and recovered the child's body. Nahidul Islam and Surma Begum were arrested at that time. The child's father, Khasru Mia, filed a case the next day. Surma Begum is the wife of the child's uncle Runu Miah, who is the son of Kamal Miah of Madhurchak area of Charkhai Union of Beanibazar upazila in Sylhet.
Nahidul applied for bail to the lower court in November. After the lower court rejected his plea, he appealed to the HC.
Lawyer of the accused, Dr Bashir Ullah, said that the father of the deceased child (plaintiff) had filed an application with the High Court on behalf of the accused. "In the application, he stated no objection to the bail of the accused. This outraged the court because this is a murder case. Despite everything that has happened, the child's father has taken the initiative to save the accused," he added.
He further said that the court had rejected outright Khasru Mia's bail application for the accused. Furthermore, the Beanibazar police had been ordered to arrest him, and file charges against him under the relevant section of the law.
