HC clears 7,104 backlogged cases in a single day
The move aims to ensure speedy justice for litigants, reduce case congestion and improve the efficiency of the judicial system
High Court Division disposed of 7,104 long-pending cases in a single day as part of efforts to reduce case backlog, according to a press release issued today (14 May) by Supreme Court administration.
3,842 old criminal miscellaneous cases were settled by the High Court's criminal motion benches. At the same time, 3,262 old writ petitions were disposed of by the writ motion benches, reads the release.
The initiative is being carried out under the directives of chief justice, with dedicated efforts by the criminal and writ motion benches to clear long-pending cases.
