Full Supreme Court verdict restoring caretaker government system published
The 74-page judgment was released today (15 March) on the official website of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh
The full verdict of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh restoring the widely debated caretaker government system for overseeing national elections has been published.
The 74-page judgment was released today (15 March) on the official website of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh.
The verdict was authored by former Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed.
The apex court had delivered the ruling earlier on 20 November.
The court earlier announced that the caretaker government system, originally inserted via the 13th constitutional amendment of 1996, has been "activated and revived". The court declared its satisfaction that the previous judgement was "tainted by several cited errors apparent on the face of the record", thereby setting it aside in its entirety.
