Former MP Faizur, Bubly sent to jail in separate cases

A Dhaka court today (28 September) directed authorities to send former Brahmanbaria-5 MP Faizur Rahman Badal and former reserved seat MP Tamanna Nusrat Bubly to jail in separate cases.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrates Mohammad Ehsanul Islam and Minhajur Rahman issued the orders after hearings.
New Market Police Sub-Inspector Maruf Hasan, the investigation officer, produced Faizur before the court in connection with an attempted murder case filed over killing during the July Uprising last year and sought his detention in jail.
Similarly, Tejgaon Police Sub-Inspector Anwar Hossain Khan, the investigation officer, produced Bubly before the court in connection with an Anti-Terrorism Act case.
After hearing the petitions, the judges ordered them to be sent to jail.
Additional Public Prosecutor Shamsuddoha Sumon confirmed the development.
Bubly was arrested from Mohammadpur and Faizur Rahman from Nikunja area yesterday )28 September).
In Faizur Rahman's case statement, it is alleged that around 3:30pm of 19 July 2024, during the student-people movement at Science Lab intersection under New Market Police Station. The accused opened fire on the procession, injuring Sajib, his friend Mehedi, and 12 others.
The injured later rescued and received medical treatment.
On 4 February this year, Sajib filed an attempted murder case with New Market Police Station, naming 47 individuals as accused.
According to the case statement against Bubly, the accused, leading a flash procession, advanced from in front of the Daily Star office under Tejgaon Police Station towards Panthapath via Ananda Cinema Hall. They detonated cocktails to spread panic among the public. Police later detained 25 people while they were fleeing and recovered banners of the banned Awami League and four unexploded cocktails.
Sub-Inspector Md Abdul Kader of Tejgaon Police Station filed a case under the Anti-Terrorism Act against the 25 individuals today.
