Former Chattogram-15 (Lohagara-Satkania) MP Dr Abu Reza Muhammad Nezamuddin Nadvi has been placed on a four-day remand for questioning in two separate cases.

Additionally, he has been shown arrested in another murder case.

Two separate judges of the Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Court issued these orders this morning (26 January), Public Prosecutor (PP) of the Chattogram Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court, Mofiqul Haque Bhuiyan, confirmed the matter.

"This morning, former MP Nadvi was presented before the court under tight security. The police sought a seven-day remand for one case and a five-day remand for another, both under Chandgaon Police Station. After the hearing, the court granted a total of four days of remand, two days for each case," Mofiqul Haque said.

He added, "The court also approved a police application to show Nadvi arrested in a separate murder case under Sadarghat Police Station in the city."

Court sources said Dr Nadvi was brought to court from the Chattogram District Jail under heavy security around 9:30am.

Earlier on 22 January, he was placed on a four-day remand in connection with two cases under Lohagara and Satkania Police Stations.

Multiple cases were filed against Nadvi in various police stations in Satkania, Lohagara, and metropolitan areas of Chattogram following 5 August political changeover. After remaining in hiding for over three months, he was arrested in Dhaka on 15 December.

He was the ruling party's candidate in the 12th parliamentary election but was defeated by an independent candidate.
