Father sentenced to life imprisonment for raping teenage daughter in Faridpur
The lawsuit mentions that the father had been raping her on various pretexts for nearly six years

A court has sentenced Abdul Wahab Molla, 42, to life imprisonment for the rape of his teenage daughter in Krishnanagar, Sadar Upazila, Faridpur.
The verdict was delivered this afternoon (28 September) by Shamima Parveen, judge (district and sessions judge) of the Faridpur Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal.
In addition to the sentence, a fine of Tk50,000 was imposed.
The court also instructed the administration to sell the defendant's movable and immovable property and hand the proceeds over to the victim.
The case charges state that on 13 February 2023, the father woke his daughter from sleep at around 10:30pm at their home and raped her. After she informed her mother, the mother filed a case with the Kotwali Police Station on 15 February.
The lawsuit mentions that the father had been raping her on various pretexts for nearly six years prior to this incident.
During the trial, the tribunal heard testimony from six witnesses. Furthermore, a DNA test also confirmed the veracity of the incident, according to the court.
Advocate Golam Rabbani Bhuiyan Ratan, public prosecutor of the tribunal, confirmed this information. He stated that the prosecution is satisfied with the life sentence handed down to the defendant, adding, "We hope this verdict will set a precedent in society."
The accused was brought to court during the pronouncement of the verdict, after which he was sent back to prison.
