Faridpur man gets life in prison for raping 8-year-old in 2022
The man has also been fined Tk50,000
A Faridpur court has sentenced a man to rigorous life imprisonment for raping an eight-year-old child back at Bhawal Union of the district's Saltha Upazila in 2022.
Judge Shamima Parvin of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal delivered the verdict with the convict present in court this afternoon (22 April).
The court also fined the convict, named Amirul Mridha, 32, Tk50,000, and failure to pay the fine will lead to three months ' imprisonment.

Public Prosecutor Golam Rabbani Bhuiyan said the state was satisfied with the verdict. "This verdict will remain as a stern example for all the rapists."
Amirul, son of late Anwar Mridha of the district's Boalmari Upazila, was taken to jail by police after the verdict was delivered.
According to case details, on 19 June 2022, Amirul lured the girl child and took her behind a hostel near the Peon Colony in Bhawal Union, where he raped her.
He then fled and left the child there in a bloodied state. The child was later rescued and taken to a hospital by her mother, who later filed the case.
