Ex-minister Anisul assaulted by 'pro-BNP lawyers' while leaving Narayanganj court

Former law minister Anisul Huq was assaulted reportedly by pro-lawyers present in a Narayanganj court today (28 April), which placed him on a four-day remand in a July uprising murder case.
A team of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) had sought a seven-day remand in the court of Narayanganj Senior Judicial Magistrate Moinuddin Kadir in connection with the murder of Sulaiman in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj.

Confirming the incident, Narayanganj court Police Inspector Kaiyum Khan said prior to the hearing, Anisul was brought in from the central jail.
After the hearing, while leaving the court, a section of pro-BNP lawyers assaulted him, the inspector said.
Police quickly formed a security cordon and placed him in the prison van to send him back to jail.
The case, filed with the Siddhirganj Police Station, involves Hafiz Md Sulaiman who was killed on 5 August, which names Anisul as the third accused, the plaintiff's lawyer Sakhawat Hossain Khan said.
Following the court's remand order, the lawyer said, "We hope this remand will help uncover the facts behind the incident."
