Ex-DGFI director Afzal Naser remanded in fresh uprising case
He was arrested on 30 March at a house on Road 12 in Mirpur DOHS.
A Dhaka court today (23 April) placed former DGFI director and dismissed Lieutenant Colonel Md Afzal Naser on a four-day remand in a case lodged over the killing of Mahmudul Hasan in Uttara area during the July Mass Uprising, 2024.
Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Sefatullah passed the order as police produced Naser before the court and pleaded to place him on a seven-day remand in the case.
According to the case documents, Mahmudul Hasan joined a procession of anti-discrimination student movement on 5 August, 2024, in Azampur area under Uttara East Police Station. The procession came under attack, and Hasan got shot. He was rushed to Kuwait Bangladesh Friendship Govt Hospital, where the attending doctors declared him dead.
The case was filed on 26 September, 2024, with Uttara East Police Station.
Afzal Naser was arrested on 30 March at a house on Road 12 in Mirpur DOHS by a team of the Detective Branch (DB) of police.
He was then remanded for 15 days in four phases.
