Ex-AL MP Mahfuzur Rahman Mita sent to jail in anti-terrorism case
The court has ordered Mita to remain in jail after he completed a six-day remand over allegations of involvement in a June flash procession and crude bomb blasts in Mohakhali.
A court today (28 September) sent former Member of Parliament (MP) from Chattogram-3 constituency Mahfuzur Rahman Mita to jail in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ripon Hossain passed the order as police produced Mita before the court after end of his six-day remand in the case and pleaded to keep him behind bars till the end of the probe.
Earlier on 22 September, Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam placed Mahfuzur Rahman Mita on a six-day remand and his driver Golam Mawla Selim on a five-day remand in the case.

A team of Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Detective Branch (DB) arrested Mahfuzur from a house on Road 43 in Gulshan-2 around 1:30 am on 22 September.
According to the case documents, leaders and activists of the activities-banned Awami League, banned Bangladesh Chhatra League and other front organisations brought out a flash procession in the Mohakhali area on June 18, 2026, and blasted a couple of crude bombs.
Police later filed the case with Tejgaon Industrial Zone Police Station in this connection.
