DIG Mizan denied bail, sent to jail
ACC Director Manzur Morshed filed corruption cases against DIG Mizan

A Dhaka court has sent suspended Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Mizanur Rahman to jail, rejecting his bail plea in a corruption case.
Judge Imrul Kayes of Metropolitan Sessions Court rejected his bail petition on Tuesday.
Ehsanul Haq Samaji stood for DIG Mizan while Mosharraf Hossain Kajal for the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in the hearing.
Earlier on Monday, the High Court rejected his anticipatory bail plea in a case filed by the ACC.
ACC Director Manzur Morshed filed corruption cases against DIG Mizan, his wife Sohelia Anar Ratna, nephew Sub-Inspector Mahmudul Hasan and his younger brother Mahabubur Rahman on June 24.
They were accused of accumulating wealth worth Tk302,868,000 illegally and concealing information of assets worth Tk30,705,000.
A private TV station recently reported that Mizan gave a bribe of Tk40 lakh to ACC Director Khandaker Enamul Basir to get clean chit in the case.
DIG Mizan, who was an additional commissioner of DMP, had been withdrawn on January 9, 2018 following an allegation of threatening a female news presenter of a private television station.
He also reportedly married a woman, 25, forcibly in July 2017 and abused her.
He had also implicated her in a false case whereby she was arrested and jailed for three weeks.
