Defamation case filed against Sarjis Alam over linking BNP to journalist Tuhin murder
“Gazipur Metropolitan Police commissioner has already arrested eight suspects directly involved in the killing and found no political link,” he said

A defamation case has been filed against NCP Chief Organiser (northern region) Sarjis Alam, for allegedly making false claims linking BNP to the murder of journalist Asaduzzaman Tuhin.
The case was filed today (12 August) around 11:30am by Tanvir Siraj, president of Basan Police Station unit of BNP in Gazipur.
The hearing was held at the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court-2, presided over by Judge Alamgir Al Mamun. After the hearing, the judge took the case into cognizance and ordered the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police to investigate.
Tanvir Siraj said, "Journalist Tuhin was brutally killed after recording a video of a criminal group. Sarjis Alam, however, spread false rumours on social media, including Facebook, linking BNP to the murder without knowing the facts, damaging the party's reputation."
"Gazipur Metropolitan Police commissioner has already arrested eight suspects directly involved in the killing and found no political link," he added.
Siraj further added that he filed the case following the party's instructions and hopes for justice.
Advocate Siddiqur Rahman, lawyer for the complainant, said the application was submitted before the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court-2.
