Court sends actor Siddique to jail in attempt to murder case

A Dhaka court today (7 May) ordered to send actor Siddiqur Rahman alias Siddique to jail in a case filed for an attempt to kill a rickshaw-van driver Abdul Jabbar Howlader during last year's student-led July-August Mass Uprising.
After completion of seven-day remand, a team of Gulshan Thana police produced Siddique before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court and prayed for his confinement till the end of the investigation into the case.

Actor Siddique was detained by a group of youths from Baily Road area on 29 April.
Later, he was handed over to Gulshan Police Station from Ramna Police Station.
Ramna police later handed him over to Gulshan Thana in connection with the attempt to murder case of van driver Jabbar.
After hearing a police petition on 30 April, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sanaullah granted him seven days remand.
According to the police sources, van driver Jabbar Ali received bullet wounds in front of Shahjadpur confidence town during the anti-discrimination students' movement on 19 July 2024.
Later on 11 December 2024, Jabbar Ali filed the case with Gulshan Thana accusing 109 people including the ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
