A Dhaka court today (17 February) ordered banks to freeze 74 accounts owned by Chowdhury Nafeez Sarafat, former chairman of Padma Bank PLC's board of director, his wife Anjuman Ara Shahid and son Chowdhury Rahib Safwan Sarafat.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order, allowing a petition of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The ACC in its plea said the anti-graft body is probing allegations like bribery, forgery, misuse of power, corruption and embezzling around Tk887 crore.
Evidence of suspicious transactions were found in the accounts owned by the accused and these should be frozen for the sake of proper investigation, it added.
