Court freezes 8 more accounts of ex-BGB DG Shafeenul, his wife
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order

A Dhaka court today (19 May) ordered authorities to freeze eight more bank accounts of former director general (DG) of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Major General (Retd) Mohammad Shafeenul Islam and his wife Soma Islam.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order, allowing a petition of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The ACC in its plea said it is probing allegations of amassing huge illegal wealth by Shafeenul and his family members by abusing power and corruption.
"During the investigation, it has been learned that the couple has eight more bank accounts, which are still active and they are using those to transfer their ill-gotten money. So, the accounts should be frozen immediately," the ACC plea added.
Earlier on 23 January, a Dhaka court had ordered authorities to freeze 56 bank accounts of Mohammad Shafeenul Islam, his wife Soma Islam and son Samin Islam.
