A Dhaka court today deferred till March 29 the charge framing hearing in the Burupukuria coalmine graft case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in 2008.

Special Judge's Court-2 Justice AHM Ruhul Imran fixed the date as Khaleda Zia could not appear before the court today.

Khaleda Zia is currently undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University.

The graft watchdog filed the case in 2008 against 16 people including BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and 10 of her former cabinet colleagues for taking Tk 159 crore in kickbacks on the Barapukuria coalmine deal awarded to the highest bidder instead of the lowest one.
