Asadul murder: 6 accused placed on four-day remand

A Dhaka court has placed six accused on a four-day remand in a case filed over the murder of Asadul, alias "Lambu Asadul", in the capital's Mohammadpur area.
Metropolitan Magistrate Ariful Islam passed the order today (18 April), following a remand plea by the police.
The suspects were identified as former Ward 34 Jubo Dal leader Md Akhtar Hossain, Md Munna, Md Miraj Fakir, Md Nayan alias Khokon, Md Asadul Islam, and Md Shawon.

According to the remand application, based on information provided by the accused, police recovered a motorcycle and a sharp weapon believed to have been used in the killing.
Investigators said additional time is needed to uncover the full motive, identify any other individuals involved, and gather details of unidentified suspects.
According to the case statement, the victim had an ongoing dispute with the accused over financial matters.
On the night of 15 April, the accused allegedly called him out of his house. Later, following an argument over money, they stabbed him while he was returning home on foot in the Beribadh Sadek Khan brickfield area of Mohammadpur, leading to his death.
The victim's family subsequently filed a murder case with the Mohammadpur Police Station.
The accused were arrested during a drive in the Kolatia area under the Keraniganj Police Station on Thursday night (16 April).
