Arrest warrant issued against Max Ovi, Mithila in attempted murder case filed by Hero Alom
Alom’s lawyer Advocate Shanta Sachsina confirmed the development and stated that the accused were violating their bail terms and were actively threatening the plaintiff
A Dhaka court today (3 December) ordered the cancellation of bail and issued an arrest warrant against two accused, Kamrul Islam Riaz alias Max Ovi and Sadia Rahman Mithila, in the attempted murder case filed by content creator Ashraful Hossain Alom, popularly known as Hero Alom.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Hasibuzzaman's court passed the order after hearing an application submitted by the plaintiff.
Alom's lawyer Advocate Shanta Sachsina confirmed the development and stated that the accused were violating their bail terms and were actively threatening the plaintiff. Citing these reasons, Alom had also filed a General Diary (GD) with the police earlier.
"The accused violated the conditions of their bail. We therefore petitioned the court to cancel their bail. After the hearing, the court granted our application," said Advocate Sachsina. Alom was present in the court during the hearing.
The case centres on an attack that occurred in the Aftabnagar area under Badda Police Station around 7pm on 29 September.
According to the case statement, Alom was walking along a road when four named accused gave directives to six other unidentified individuals on three motorcycles to intercept him. The attackers allegedly dragged him into a nearby thicket of reeds (kashbon).
Max Ovi reportedly struck Alom on the head with a wooden stick. When Alom used his left hand to block the blow, he sustained a severe injury. An unidentified assailant then struck his right elbow with a sharp iron scale, causing a deep, bleeding wound.
Another unidentified attacker struck the left side of Alom's forehead with a wooden stick, causing him to fall to the ground. The assailants then allegedly assaulted him indiscriminately. Ovi also allegedly destroyed Alom's mobile phone.
Before leaving, the attackers issued various threats and forms of intimidation. Alom was later taken to the hospital with the help of bystanders.
Alom filed the case at Badda Police Station on 5 October.
