Ali Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman elected new leaders of Bangladesh Judicial Service Association
Jashore Senior District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Ali Hossain have been elected president and Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Mustafizur Rahman has been elected secretary general of the Bangladesh Judicial Service Association (BJSA) in the association's election held yesterday (2 December).
Out of 2,138 registered voters, a total of 1,890 judges from various stations across the country cast their ballots. Barishal Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate S M Shariat Ullah was elected organising secretary.
In the presidential race, Mohammad Ali Hossain received 1,003 votes, defeating his contender Mohammad Faruq, who received 862 votes. For the post of secretary general, Mustafizur Rahman won by a large margin with 1,238 votes, while his nearest rival Mamunur Rashid obtained 359 votes.
This is the second consecutive term in which BJSA leaders have been elected through direct voting by judges. Following the fall of the Hasina administration last year, the association resolved to shift from selection to an electoral process starting in 2024.
