6 leftist student leaders, activists get bail

A Dhaka court today granted bail to six leftist student leaders and activists in a case filed over assaulting cops and preventing them from discharging duties during a torch procession at Dhaka University campus.
They are- Nozir Amir Chowdhury Joy, Nazifa Jannat, Joyoti Chakravarty, Tamjid Haider, Akib Ahmed and Arafat Saad.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury granted the bail today after hearing on their petitions.

However, another accused, Tanjimur Rahman, did not get bail as his lawyer, appointed separately by his family, filed no bail plea.
They were arrested on 26 February during a protest over the death of writer Mushtaq Ahmed in Kashimpur jail.
