The fifth and sixth accused of the case - Harej Ali and Khalilur Rahman - were acquitted by the court.

Jogeshwar Roy, who was a chief hindu priest of Sri Sri Swanta Gourio Monastery, was slaughtered by a group of militants in the early morning of February 21, 2016.

One of his devotees was also shot in the leg as he tried to stop the attackers during the incident.

Rabindranath Roy, elder brother of the victim, filed a homicide case against ten people. Later, Debiganj police station filed a case against same accused persons under the Explosive Substances Act.

The trial started in January, 2018 with Panchagarh District and Sessions Judge Court. Later, the case was shifted to Rajshahi Fast-Track court for fast processing.

Four of the ten accused, however, died in different gunfights with law enforcement agencies.
