Court bars two ex-VCs of National University from travelling abroad
A Dhaka court barred two former vice-chancellors (VCs) of National University, Prof Md Mashiur Rahman and Prof Harun-or-Rashid, from travelling abroad in connection with an ongoing investigation.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz issued the order today (24 February) following an application filed by the ACC, confirmed court Bench Assistant Md Riaz Hossain.
On behalf of the ACC, Deputy Director Muhammad Zainal Abedin submitted the application seeking restrictions on their overseas travel.

The application states that a three-member inquiry team has been formed to investigate allegations of corruption and various irregularities by the National University authorities, and the investigation is ongoing.
"During the inquiry, reliable sources indicated that the accused individuals may flee abroad by leaving the country. Therefore, in the interest of ensuring a fair and proper investigation, it is necessary to restrict their overseas travel," the ACC plea added.
