Two people were killed in a motorcycle accident in Uttara area of the capital in the early hours today (18 February), police said.
The incident took place around 1:30am in front of ABNS Center in Uttara East.
The deceased were identified as Abdur Rahman Rabbi, 25, and his wife Karima Akter Mim, 20.
Rabbi's friend, Muntasir Mahmud Manik, and his wife, Tanzila, told The Business Standard that they found the couple critically injured and rushed them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) around 2:45am.
The on-duty doctor declared Mim dead upon arrival. Rabbi, initially treated at DMCH, was later transferred to two other hospitals before being brought back to DMCH, where he was pronounced dead at 6:45am, they said.
Tanzila said the couple had gone out to celebrate Manik's birthday and were heading to a restaurant when the accident occurred. Police informed them after finding the couple injured near BNS Tower.
