Of many challenges facing the world during the 4th industrial revolution aided by the advanced information technology, curbing money laundering and tax evasion is really a global challenge, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Iqbal Mahmood has said.

The ACC chairman made the remarks virtually at the 19th International Anti-Corruption Conference held in Seoul, South Korea, on Tuesday night, according to a press release.

The conference started on 30 November and will continue till 5 December.

Iqbal Mahmood said: "In order to meet the challenge, our efficiency must be of international standard."

"We have to adopt new ideas in the fight against corruption. It is also advisable to change the strategy of our own work process to keep pace with the time," he added.

"Truthfulness, trust and transparency will ensure the anti-corruption struggle" is the theme of this year's conference.

More than 500 anti-corruption experts from around the world have been participating in the conference.

The conference is expected to add new ideas to the anti-corruption agenda. More than 3,000 government officials from 140 countries, academics, civil society members, media activists, anti-corruption organisations, NGO representatives are also joining the conference, as per the release.

The UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres also addressed the conference.

Meanwhile, the ACC has ordered 26 of its officials to participate in 26 important sessions of the event.

The officials have to submit new exemplary procedures to be followed in combating corruption. The submission should be in the form of a report.

ACC Director General AKM Sohel will analyse these reports and present exemplary strategies to the commission, read the press release.
