Court orders freezing of assets of ex-whip Abu Saeed, family
The court ordered the freezing of 28 bank accounts and 21,564 shares in 32 companies belonging to Abu Saeed Al Mahmud Swapan

A Dhaka court has ordered the freezing of investments in 62 companies and the seizure of assets belonging to former whip Abu Saeed Al Mahmud Swapan, his wife Mehera Mahabub, and daughter Nuzayma Mahmud, in connection with a corruption case.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib's court issued the order on yesterday (17 August), following an application by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
ACC Assistant Director Md Tanzir Ahmed confirmed, stating that the application to freeze movable assets and seize immovable assets was filed by ACC Assistant Director Al Amin.
According to ACC sources, the court ordered the freezing of 28 bank accounts and 21,564 shares in 32 companies belonging to Abu Saeed Al Mahmud Swapan.
At the same time, assets including 307 decimals of land, one flat, and one land plot, with a total value of Tk2.8 crore, were ordered to be seized.
The court also ordered the seizure of immovable property worth Tk2 crore belonging to his wife, Mehera Mahabub.
This includes a two-story house in Joypurhat, a flat in Gulshan, and 244 decimals of land.
Additionally, movable assets valued at Tk77.87 lakh, invested in across 23 companies, have been frozen.
Furthermore, some 14,972 shares in seven companies belonging to their daughter, Nuzayma Mahmud, were also ordered to be frozen.
