ACC suspends deputy assistant director over bribery and misconduct allegations
Zulfikar is accused of assuring the former chairman of Arcade Real Estate Company protection from a corruption case in return for financial favours

Mohammad Zulfikar, a deputy assistant director at the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) headquarters, has been temporarily suspended over allegations of misconduct, including accepting financial benefits in exchange for case exemptions.
The suspension was announced in a circular signed by ACC Chairman Mohammad Abdul Momen on Thursday, 4 September, and later confirmed to The Business Standard by ACC Deputy Director Akhtarul Islam.
According to the circular, Zulfikar is accused of assuring the former chairman of Arcade Real Estate Company protection from a corruption case in return for financial favours. He is also alleged to have purchased a flat at a reduced price without registering it in his name and forcibly occupying it with his family without paying rent.
In addition, he is accused of using a private car without proper declaration.
The suspension took immediate effect following a commission meeting on 27 August, which considered both the gravity of the allegations and the broader interests of the state.
The circular further noted that, under Section 43(1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission (Employees) Service Rules 2008, Zulfikar will be entitled to a subsistence allowance during his suspension.
