ACC launches probe into former Islami Bank chairman Obayed Ullah

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched an investigation into former Islami Bank chairman Md Obayed Ullah Al Masud over allegations of loan fraud, unethical investments and embezzlement.
ACC Deputy Director Akhtarul Islam confirmed the start of the inquiry to the media today (9 October).
Masud also faces allegations of multiple irregularities and financial discrepancies during his tenure as managing director of Rupali Bank.
Recently, the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) submitted a detailed report to the ACC outlining several irregularities and financial inconsistencies that occurred under his watch, and recommended necessary action.
Based on that report, the ACC initiated the investigation, an ACC official said.
