ACC finds evidence of pension fraud of late PDB employee in Chattogram
Mozzaffar Ahmed, a resident of Lohagara upazila in Chattogram, was employed as an electrician at PDB before his death in 1999

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has found evidence of fraudulent withdrawal and embezzlement of the pension funds of a deceased Power Development Board (PDB) employee in Chattogram.
An ACC team reviewed official documents and discovered initial proof of the fraud during a raid at the PDB office in Chattogram yesterday (13 March) afternoon.
Mozzaffar Ahmed, a resident of Lohagara upazila in Chattogram, was employed as an electrician at PDB before his death in 1999.
He left behind three sons. In 2011, his youngest son withdrew Tk15 lakh from the pension fund after receiving authorisation from his mother, the designated heir.
At the time of withdrawal, the son was only 14 years old.
Recently, Mozzaffar Ahmed's two other sons lodged a complaint with the ACC, alleging that PDB officials were involved in the fraudulent withdrawal of their late father's pension. They claimed that their underage brother was used to access the funds illegally.
ACC's Assistant Deputy Director of Chattogram Integrated District Office-1, Apel Mahmud, said records regarding the authorisation given by the deceased employee's wife had been reviewed.
"The findings confirmed initial evidence of the fraud. The ACC is now investigating the alleged involvement of PDB officials in the scheme. Relevant documents have been collected for further examination," he added.
