Colourful celebrations mark the arrival of spring in Chattogram

Chattogram embraced the season of spring with lively festivities as various cultural organisations arranged colourful events to welcome Boshonto, the king of seasons.
Among the major celebrations was the Boshonto Boron festival, organised by Proma Abritti Sangathan at Shirish Tala in CRB.
The festival, which began this morning, saw enthusiastic participation from people of all ages and backgrounds. Dressed in bright shades of yellow, orange, and floral prints, attendees gathered to celebrate Bengali culture and traditions.
The event commenced with an instrumental performance by The Violinist Chittagong, under the direction of Priyotosh Barua. This was followed by a captivating group dance performance by artists from Odissi and Dance Movement Centre, led by Proma Avanti.
Several other cultural organisations, including Nataraj Nrityangan, Nrityananda, Nrityarup Academy, and Krittika Nrityalay, also showcased traditional dance performances.

Interspersed between the performances, renowned singers Soma Roy, Rozi Biswas, Mahfuz Ahmed, and Moshiul Anwar Khan delighted the audience with solo musical renditions.
The festival also featured powerful poetry recitations. Members of Proma Abritti Sangathan participated in group recitations, while acclaimed reciters Goutam Chowdhury, Ibrahim Khalil Masud, Sumishta Barua Poppy, Kali Das, Faiz Hossain, Romena Afaz Rumi, Snigdha Chowdhury, Chaiti Kundu, Tapoti Majumder, Safat Jamil, Protima Das, Tanvi Barua, Arpita Barua, Tanzia Nawrin, and Falguni Sikder delivered individual performances.
Speaking on the occasion, Biswajit Pal, general secretary of Proma Abritti Sangathan, mentioned that although they usually organise the event on the first day of spring, this year's festival was delayed due to permission issues from the railway authorities.
"Despite the delay, the enthusiasm of the people has made the event a success," he added.
Meanwhile, yesterday, another grand Boshonto Boron event was held by Bodhon Abritti Parishad, at Shaheed Wasim Park, Pahartali, near the Railway Museum.
Themed 'Nibir Ontorotor Boshonto Elo Prane', the festival began with an instrumental performance by The Violinist Chittagong.
The event was presided over by Sohel Anwar, president of Bodhon Abritti Parishad, with speeches from Basudev Sinha (adviser, Bodhon), Manab Kumar Saha (senior manager, Nippon Paint), and Suborna Chowdhury (senior vice president, Bodhon).
A series of cultural performances followed, including group dances by artists from School of Classical & Folk Dance, Odissi & Tagore Dance Movement Centre, Nrityarup Academy, Madhuri Dance Academy, Surangan Bidyapith, and Nritya Niketan.
Musical performances were presented by renowned groups such as Surponchom, Dhrupad Sangeet Niketan, RK Music Academy, International Biswotan, and singer Nandini Roy. The recitation segment featured group performances by Bodhon Abritti Parishad members.
The afternoon session commenced with a grand Boshonto Shobhayatra (Spring Procession), which paraded through various streets of Pahartali, accompanied by traditional dhol drumming. Following the procession, Mohan Sangeet Bidyalay performed instrumental music, while Bageshwari Sangeetalay captivated the audience with melodious renditions.
The festival concluded with dance performances by artists from Nrityeshwar Nrityalaya and a group recitation by Bodhon.
The entire event was hosted by Goutam Chowdhury, Pallab Gupta, Poli Ghosh, Suchayon Sengupta, Ritwika Nandi, Fatema Tuz Zohra, Ivan Pal, and Ankita Bhattacharya.
