Coast Guard launches public service campaign on Saint Martin’s Island

On Sunday afternoon, Lieutenant Commander Harun-ur-Rashid, Media Officer of the Bangladesh Coast Guard, confirmed that a week-long public awareness and development campaign has begun on Saint Martin's Island, led by Coast Guard East Zone.
He stated that the Coast Guard is vital in raising awareness and promoting socio-economic development in coastal and island regions. As part of its ongoing commitment, the Bangladesh Coast Guard East Zone continues to work tirelessly to maintain peace and order and ensure public safety in coastal areas.
Through its stations and outposts, the East Zone conducts a range of community service activities, including awareness-building initiatives, environmental projects, relief supply distribution, and free medical services.
On 11 May 2025, the BCG Station Saint Martin launched the initiative with participation from residents, students, and working people from all walks of life. The programme includes cleanliness drives, fire safety training, and simulation exercises. More than 150 residents, including teachers and students from various schools and madrasas, participated in these events, which were coordinated with the local administration.
Lieutenant Commander Harun-ur-Rashid added that the Bangladesh Coast Guard remains committed to continuing such public service activities in the future.
