CJ calls for sustainable implementation of judiciary's structural reforms
The chief justice emphasised the need for collective efforts from the Supreme Court administration, Bar Council, Supreme Court Bar Association, judges of district courts, and the Bangladesh Judicial Service Association.
Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed has called for the sustainable implementation of structural reforms in the judiciary.
Speaking at a programme marking the 72nd anniversary of the Department of Law at Rajshahi University today (25 October), he said, "The cabinet's recent policy approval of the Supreme Court Secretariat Ordinance 2025 is the result of a well-planned and multi-dimensional effort.
"Over the past 15 months, the close cooperation between the Office of the Chief Justice and the executive branch of the interim government has accelerated this process, which will continue in the future."

The chief justice further emphasised the need for collective efforts from the Supreme Court administration, Bar Council, Supreme Court Bar Association, judges of district courts, and the Bangladesh Judicial Service Association to ensure the sustainable implementation of the judiciary's structural transformation.
"We are all bound by a quid pro quo — a relationship of mutual responsibility," he said.
"Reciprocity, rationality, and avoidance of one-upmanship should be the three guiding principles for ensuring the judiciary's lasting autonomy. Even the slightest hint of distrust or unilateral decision-making could endanger the very architecture of institutional independence," he added.
