Chattogram Port’s NCT sets new record in container handling
In August alone, container handling at Chattogram Port rose by around 40%, averaging 3,903 TEUs per day.
The New Mooring Container Terminal (NCT) of Chattogram Port has set a new record in container handling, crossing the 5,000 TEUs mark in a single day.
From 8am on 28 August to 8am on 29 August, NCT, operated by Chittagong Dry Dock Limited (CDDL), handled a total of 5,019 TEUs. Of these, 2,101 were import containers and 2,918 were export containers, according to a press release from the port authority issued today (29 August).
40% rise in August
In August alone, container handling at Chattogram Port rose by around 40%, averaging 3,903 TEUs per day. Over 28 days, a total of 109,217 TEUs were handled at NCT's berths 2, 3, 4 and 5 under CDDL's management, it said.
It also added that in CDDL's first 49 days of operation (7 July–26 August), container handling reached 174,931 TEUs, while the previous operator managed 119,276 TEUs over the same number of days (19 May–6 July).
This reflects a 46.66% increase, said the release.
