Cement Manufacturers Association mourns death of Khaleda Zia
In a condolence message signed by BCMA President Amirul Haque and issued today (31 December), the association said Khaleda Zia passed away on 30 December, leaving a profound void in Bangladesh’s political and national life.
The Bangladesh Cement Manufacturers Association (BCMA) has expressed deep sorrow at the death of former prime minister Khaleda Zia, describing her passing as an irreparable loss to the nation and its democratic institutions.
In a condolence message signed by BCMA President Amirul Haque and issued today (31 December), the association said Khaleda Zia passed away on 30 December, leaving a profound void in Bangladesh's political and national life.
"With profound sadness, we mourn the passing of Begum Khaleda Zia, former three-time prime minister of the People's Republic of Bangladesh," the BCMA said, offering prayers for the departed leader. The association also recited Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji'un.
The BCMA described Khaleda Zia as a central figure in the country's political history and recalled her role as the first woman prime minister of Bangladesh, noting that her leadership reshaped national politics and expanded the space for women in public life.
Her tenure, the association said, coincided with some of the most challenging periods of Bangladesh's democratic journey, during which she remained a steadfast advocate for pluralism, political participation, and constitutional governance.
"Khaleda Zia's long career in public service and her contributions to the political landscape will remain an enduring part of Bangladesh's history," reads the statement.
The association extended its condolences to her family, party colleagues, and supporters, and prayed for strength and patience for all those mourning her death. "May Almighty Allah grant her the highest place in Jannatul Firdaus and bestow comfort upon her family, loved ones, and well-wishers during this difficult time," the BCMA added.
