CCCI administrator's tenure extended by another 60 days

The tenure of Muhammad Anwar Pasha, the administrator of the Chattogram Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), has been extended for another 60 days.
This was announced in a letter signed by Deputy Secretary of the Trade Organisation-1 wing of the Ministry of Commerce, Chowdhury Samia Yasmin, on Wednesday (2 July).
The letter stated that although the administrator's current tenure is set to end on 8 July, the government has extended it by 60 days under Section 17 of the Trade Organisation Act, 2022.
The decision came in response to a letter from CCCI, which requested additional time for the administrator to carry out regular operations and ensure a fair and impartial election. The chamber sent this request to the ministry on 23 June.
Earlier, on 9 September, Anwar Pasha was appointed as administrator by the Ministry of Commerce after all 24 elected office bearers of the 2023-24 term, including the president, vice president, and directors, resigned.
