Case filed against driver over Noakhali microbus tragedy that killed 7 of a family
The OC said the case will be transferred to Chandraganj Highway Police Station in Lakshmipur district for further legal action.

A case has been filed against the driver of a microbus that plunged into a canal in Begumganj, Noakhali, killing seven members of the same family, allegedly due to the driver falling asleep at the wheel.
Abdur Rahim, father of Oman expatriate Md Bahar Uddin, lodged the case against driver Enayet Hossain Akbar at Begumganj Police Station yesterday night (8 August), Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Liton Dewan confirmed.
The OC said the case will be transferred to Chandraganj Highway Police Station in Lakshmipur district for further legal action.
Police identified the driver as Enayet, son of the late Foyez Ahmed of Patwarbari in Charchamita, Hajirpara union, Lakshmipur Sadar upazila. He has been absconding since the incident.
The crash occurred on 6 August when the victims were returning home after receiving Bahar Uddin from Dhaka. The microbus veered off the Lakshmipur–Chowmuhani road and fell into a canal at Begumganj, near the Lakshmipur district border.
The deceased were identified as Bahar's mother, Mursheda, 50; wife, Kabita, 25; two-year-old daughter; nieces Reshmi, 9, and Lamia Akter, 8; younger brother's wife, Laboni, 25; and grandmother, Foyjun Nesa, 70.
All seven victims were residents of Chowpolli in North Joypur union of the same upazila.
Bahar himself survived, along with his father Abdur Rahim, father-in-law Iskandar Mia, sister-in-law Sweety Akter, and brother-in-law Riaz Hossain.
The survivors alleged that the driver's drowsiness caused the crash.
