Car dealers urges BRTA to resume vehicle registration
The association has already written to the BRTA, the road transport and bridges ministry, and also to the Prime Minister’s Office in this regard

Bangladesh Reconditioned Vehicles Importers and Dealers Association (Barvida) has urged the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) to resume vehicle registration services.
In a press statement on Thursday, the association of the country's 900 car importers and dealers said ports, customs houses, banks, and car dealerships are open and vehicles are being released from ports amid the ongoing lockdown.
But since the BRTA is not registering any vehicle, customers are reluctant to buy cars as they cannot drive those on road without a number plate, despite the fact private vehicles are of much higher need for social distancing now.
Barvida urged the BRTA to reopen its vehicle registration services on a limited scale like other government offices.
The association has already written to the BRTA, the road transport and bridges ministry, and also to the Prime Minister's Office in this regard.
Many countries have engaged independent agencies to register vehicles and Bangladesh too can do that, suggested Barvida.
