BSF gunfire injures Bangladeshi youth at Maheshpur border
Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred to Jashore General Hospital for better treatment

A Bangladeshi youth was critically injured by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) gunfire in the Maheshpur border area of Jhenaidah district early today (2 May).
The victim, identified as Riaz Hossen, 22, was initially rushed to Jibon Nagar Hospital by local residents.
Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred to Jashore General Hospital for better treatment.
Assistant Registrar of Surgery department at Jashore General Hospital Emon Hossen confirmed that several pellet bullets were removed from Riaz's body.
"One bullet partially intersected through his kidney," he said, adding that the patient had been referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for further treatment.
According to family members, Riaz had gone to the border area last night (1 May).
Later, members of Fatehpur BSF camp under Hashkhali district opened fire on him without provocation, leaving him seriously injured.
Maheshpur 58th BGB battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Rafikul Alam said, "A patrol team was immediately dispatched to the area. We are working on it."
